Hal Gibson Pateshall Colebatch (born 7 October 1945) is an Australian author, journalist and lawyer. He has published

many articles and several books. He also holds the distinction of having more contributions to the Man-Kzin Wars saga than any other author, numbering eighteen. Several important characters in the series were designed and introduced by Colebatch including Vaemar-Riit, Dimity Carmody and Nils Rykerman.
